Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 3, 2026

This is the personal website of Wil Arndt (wilarndt.com). This policy explains what the site collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. It's written to be readable, not to bury anything in legal language.

The short version: this is a personal portfolio site. It doesn't sell your data, doesn't show ads, and doesn't collect anything it doesn't need.

What this site collects

Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how it's used — which pages get visited, roughly where visitors come from, and what device and browser they're on. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes information such as your IP address to do this. It tells me things like "the work page got more visits this week," not who you are.

Access counts. Parts of this site are unlocked with a password or a shared link. When that happens, the site records how many times a collection has been viewed and how many times a shared link has been used. This helps me understand whether a link I sent is being opened and manage access to private work. These counts aren't tied to your name or identity beyond the link you were given.

Server logs. Like nearly all websites, the hosting provider automatically records basic technical information — IP address, browser type, and the time of each request — to keep the site running securely and to diagnose problems.

What this site does not do

  • It doesn't sell, rent, or trade your information.
  • It doesn't show advertising or share your data with advertisers.
  • It doesn't create user accounts or profiles about you.
  • It doesn't collect sensitive personal information.

If you email me (for example, through the contact details on the site), I'll have whatever you put in that email — your name, address, and message — and I'll use it only to reply to you.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to measure usage as described above. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics specifically using Google's browser opt-out add-on. Blocking these cookies won't break the site.

Who else is involved

A few service providers process data on the site's behalf:

  • Google Analytics — usage measurement.
  • Netlify — hosting and server logs.
  • Neon — the database that stores site content and the access counts described above.

These providers may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. By using the site, you understand your information may be handled in other jurisdictions whose privacy laws differ from your own.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information is held about you, to request a copy, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or to object to certain processing. Because this site collects so little — and almost none of it identifies you personally — there's usually very little to act on. But if you'd like to make a request, email me (below) and I'll do what I reasonably can.

You can also opt out of analytics entirely using the Google opt-out tool linked above, or by using your browser's privacy settings or a tracker-blocking extension.

How long information is kept

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default settings. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting. Access counts are kept for as long as the related content or shared link exists.

Children

This site isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone under the age where consent is required in their region.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
